Trigger Point Dry Needling

Trigger Point Dry Needling (TPDN) is a effective therapy used to treat muscle pain and tension which commonly accompanies conditions such as arthritis, nerve irritation, muscular strain, ligament strain, and herniated discs. It is called “Dry” Needling because there is no medication injected. With TPDN, the needle itself and the effects it produces within the tissue is the treatment.

Questions about TPDN:

Is Trigger Point Dry Needling the same as Acupuncture?

No. Trigger Point Dry Needling is based on Western medicine principles. Acupuncture is
based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. They are similar in that they both use sterile,
disposable solid filament needles, but they are separate and distinct in their
   methodology, perspectives, and practices.

Does TPDN hurt?

The needles used in Trigger Point Dry Needling are 5 to 10 times SMALLER than regular
needles used for injections. Most of our patients say that they cannot even feel the
needle enter the skin. The needle is used to illicit a twitch response in the muscle. This0
may cause brief discomfort, often described as a sore ache or cramp, however,
significant pain relief from this treatment is usually immediate.

A few Testimonials:

Alisha T. of Stonewall: "I thought I was going to have to have rotator cuff repair surgery.
My shoulder hurt so badly. I couldn't do much of anything without it hurting. Before
this treatment, I seriously thought I was going to have to have rotator cuff repair
surgery. I only had one treatment at Desoto PT, and it didn't even hurt! I am currently
swinging my arm around trying to make the pain happen and I CANT! I'm truly
     amazed. Seriously unbelievable!”

Glenn B of Mansfield: "The pain in my back and right hip had gotten so bad that I had to
sleep in a recliner, because I couldn’t straighten my back out.” After a few treatments,
I have been able to go back to my normal exercises and can sleep throughout the
night without pain. My back feels great and I don’t have the pain or numbness in my
     leg anymore.”
